- Thank you for your interest in Magnolia Science Academy-3 (Carson). MSA-3 (Carson)’s Open Enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year will be from February 11, 2010 thru March 1, 2010. If you are looking for the opportunity of enrolling your child to Magnolia Science Academy-3 (Carson) for the new academic year of 2010-2011, please complete the online application form and submit it with clicking on the apply button at the bottom right of the online application form by March 1, 2010. You will be contacted in five business days after the application deadline in order to inform you about the space availability or the public random drawing, which is held whenever the school’s capacity is exceeded by the applicants for the grade level that you have applied. (Preferences are subject to be applied.)
- If you are a parent of a current MSA-3(Carson) student and are looking for a re-enrollment for your child, you must fill out MSA-3(Carson)’s Intent to Re-enroll form and submit it to the MSA-3 (Carson)’s main office by March 1, 2010 in order to save space for your child at MSA-3(Carson) for the 2010-2011 school year. The school will mail the Intend to Enroll Form for 2010-2011 school year to our current students’ addresses, or you may request if from MSA-3(Carson)’s main office.
- In the case that you have applied for an enrollment of your child to MSA-3(Carson) for the 2010-2011 school year before the open enrollment was announced, you are required to notify MSA-3(Carson)’s main office with your current intent by March 1, 2010 in order to maintain your application status of enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year.
- Magnolia Science Academy will admit all students, on a space-available basis, will not charge tuition and will not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, creed, sex, ethnicity, sexual orientation, mental or physical disability, age, ancestry, or athletic performance. The School will not enroll students over 19 years of age unless continuously enrolled in public schools and making satisfactory progress toward high school diploma. There is no requirement of residence for the student, or for the student’s parent or guardian.
- Parents/guardians will be encouraged to either attend Magnolia Science Academy workshops or meet with a designated Magnolia Science Academy member before admission to learn about the school mission, teaching philosophy, and how parents can contribute to the school. In these meetings and workshops, our staff will explain the expectations from the parents at home to enable their students to comply with the school schedule and homework requirements as well as how parents will participate I the activities of subcommittees that operate the school.
- A written application is required for each student.
- Students and their families will be asked to sign the Parent Student Compact to promote the mission of the school. In no way student will be penalized for parents’ incompliance of be denied admission if parents are not able to sign the Parent Student compact. However, the school has the responsibility of promoting itself in a way that will instill a desire on the part of families to participate in the school and thus their child’s education.
- Magnolia Science Academy will hold a public lottery to select the students to be admitted on March 22, 2010. In the lottery, all names are drawn and listed in order separately for each grade level. Any sibling of the student automatically gains the privilege to be admitted with him/her. Admission of the sibling(s) is due to availability of space in the respective grade. Once the school capacity is exceeded, the remaining students are listed in the waiting list. The students who do not apply in the regular lottery period are added to the end of the waiting list in the order they applied. The vacancies after the first enrollment period are filled with the students in the waiting list in the second enrollment period. In the following years, the siblings of the students have the privilege of admission before the lottery. For the remaining vacancies, a lottery will be held. Above principles also hold for this lottery

- Notifications of admission status will be mailed to all applications. Enrollment packets will be sent to admitted students; students not admitted will be informed of their waiting list priority number as determined by the admissions lottery. If the applicant number is lower that the spaces available we will be serving the students in the order the completed applications were received.
- If the enrollment forms are not returned within two weeks, then admission for that student is forfeited, and an admission notice will be mailed to the next student on the waiting list.
